The Philadelphia Eagles have released their final injury report ahead of their New Year’s Eve clash against the Arizona Cardinals. After a month of disappointing play, Nick Sirianni and the Eagles have a chance to get things back on track this weekend with a second consecutive win. But will they be at full strength?
Eagles injury report:
Friday’s practice continued an ongoing positive trend for the Birds this week. The team is about as healthy as they could possibly hope to be, with the big news being that slot CB Avonte Maddox is set to make his return.
The Pitt product was a full participant in most of last week’s practices and is now officially off the injury report ahead of a matchup against his old defensive coordinator, Jonathan Gannon. Prior to his injury in week 2, Maddox had a forced fumble, 2 passes defended, and 5 solo tackles to his name.
Getting him back in time for the playoffs is one thing, but getting him back early enough that he can ease back up to 100% is another. The Eagles have finally been dealt a good hand here, with one of the best nickel corners in the NFC set to return to the Philly defense.
Having recently undergone minor surgery, there’s no need to rush Darius Slay back, so he is out this week. While he does hope to return by the playoffs, the Eagles have Avonte Maddox at their disposal now which means they might even be able to flex Bradley Roby outside if they saw fit. However, rookie Kelee Ringo appears to be improving on a weekly basis, which should give the Eagles some added flexibility so far as Slay’s recovery.
Zach Cunningham and Nicholas Morrow are both listed as questionable Cunningham has frequented the injury report over the last few weeks, having last played in the blowout loss to the Cowboys. Shaq Leonard really found his footing against the Giants, which should again give the Eagles some flexibility when it comes to easing both linebackers back into the defense, especially with Arizona on deck.
Landon Dickerson was also a full participant in practice, meaning the Eagles will be at full strength on the offensive line for New Years’ Eve.
