After an undefeated week that saw the Philadelphia 76ers go 4-0, the team has taken the top spot in the NBA’s Power Rankings for Week 4. With wins over the Wizards, Celtics, Pistons, and Pacers, the Sixers faced a true variety of competition throughout the week which led to the climb from the third spot to the top.
The performances by stars Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey led the way for the Sixers as the reigning MVP averaged 36.3 points, 12.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 blocks per game. The likely Most Improved Player of the Year winner, meanwhile, averaged 31.5 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.8 blocks, and less than a turnover a game.
Both players have taken their games to even higher levels, which has contributed to this team’s stellar start to the season. Many in Philadelphia are even asking themselves if this is finally the team that will accomplish the long-sought-after goal of making it past the second round… I mean, winning the NBA Championship.
Will the winning streak ever end for the Sixers?
The Sixers will face a more difficult portion of their schedule next as the Pacers, Celtics, and Timberwolves are all among their next six opponents. The winning streak, which currently sits at eight will come to an end at some point, but the Sixers have certainly proven you cannot count them out of any matchup.
