The Philadelphia Eagles have reportedly found some cornerback help. According to Jordan Schultz, the team is signing former Super Bowl-winning CB, Bradley Roby, following a successful workout.

Eagles bring in Bradley Roby

Roby is a household name at this point in his career. The 31-year-old was a first-round pick of the Denver Broncos back in 2014 where he would spend five years before signing with the Texans.

The former Texan has experience playing both outside and in the nickel, which is valuable to an Eagles defense that loves versatility. He most recently spent time with the New Orleans Saints and worked as their starting slot corner during the 2022 season. In that time, he actually allowed career-lows in completion rate when targeted (59.4%) and opposing passer rating (79.4). He started 10 games and batted down 5 passes.

The Eagles were limited for options and Roby might be among the best they had. He’s a veteran who has experienced the highs and lows of an NFL season as well as a proven Super Bowl champion. With Josh Jobe being picked on in back-to-back weeks, the addition of Roby might prevent history repeating itself for a third time.

James Bradberry will likely be able to move back to his original spot as a boundary corner while Roby can man the slot and negate the loss of Avonte Maddox.

It’s a low-risk, high-reward signing that at the very least gives Sean Desai some options to work with.
