Life comes at you fast and for Trea Turner, life is pretty great right now. If it wasn’t good enough that the Phillies’ shortstop is having one of the best stretches of his career since August, both Trea and his wife Kirsten are about to add another member to the Turner family.
The Phillies placed Turner on the paternity list prior to Tuesday’s game against the Padres.
Turning it Around
In the month of August, Trea Turner arrived in Philadelphia.
Following the standing ovation that Trea received at home in Philly, he absolutely turned up the dial.
In 27 games, Trea hit .324 with a 1.043 OPS. He smacked 9 home runs and drove in 26 RBIs in those games while playing a better brand of defense.
Trea Turner has carried his hot August into the month of September and has already gone deep 3 times in just 4 games.
The former Dodger hit 6 home runs across 7 games, and his 12 home runs across the two months have risen him from 10 to 22 on the season. Trea has tied Nick Castellanos for second place on the team.
His return to the two-spot in the lineup has yielded great results for the Phillies and the clutch player we saw in the World Baseball Classic has come alive. The Phillies shortstop has been extremely clutch as of late, including several go-ahead home runs over the past week.
Trea Turner is helping the Phillies make their playoff push
Sitting at the top of the Wild Card would not have been a realistic goal if Trea Turner hadn’t returned to form.
It was almost as if the Phillies added a top 10 player in all of baseball at the Trade Deadline and then paired him with a resurgent Bryce Harper.
The top 4 of the Phillies lineup (Schwarber, Turner, Harper, & Castellanos) is one of the most dangerous forces in all of Major League Baseball. Throwing in Alec Bohm, Bryson Stott, and Brandon Marsh, the Phillies have 7 players with an OPS over .700.
Trea has given fans hope that this team can reach the World Series again. Hopefully, he can enjoy a few days off to celebrate with his wife and family, before gearing up for the post-season.
Congratulations to the Turner family and welcome to Philadelphia baby Turner!
