The Philadelphia Eagles have announced a flurry of roster moves in order to get the team down to the regular-season limit of 53. After a preseason that carried plenty of intrigue, Howie Roseman was left with some pretty tough decisions.
Players released (Veterans who have played 4+ seasons)
OT Brett Toth
OT Dennis Kelly
OT Josh Andrews
C Cameron Tom
TE Dan Arnold
WR Greg Ward
LB Nicholas Morrow
Takeaways
Nicholas Morrow being released is surprising, especially when seeing that projected special teamer Ben VanSumeren was also waived. The Eagles went into the offseason light at linebacker and while Zach Cunningham does provide some stability, depth is still an issue.
Dennis Kelly not making the team is interesting. He was brought in as a veteran presence on the offensive line but clearly hasn’t shown enough to unseat the likes of Jack Driscoll.
Saying goodbye to Greg Ward is tricky. He’s become a mainstay of the roster in recent years. Hopefully, he lands on the practice squad.

Takeaways
Whew, a lot to take in here.
Firstly, the CB position is interesting. With Josiah Scott AND Garner cut, the Eagles are likely going to be without a backup nickel to Avonte Maddox due to the injury sustained by Zech McPhearson. We could see James Bradberry move inside and a combo of rookies Kelee Ringo and Eli Ricks (who made the roster!!) play on the boundary.
ARRYN SIPOSS IS GONE. Who replaces him? Not a clue. But the era is over.
K’Von Wallace not making the roster is a big surprise. The former fourth-round pick appeared to have finally turned the corner this offseason, but it doesn’t look like he did quite enough. Instead, Justin Evans and his special teams upside will take that spot.
TE Tyree Jackson loses his roster battle with Grant Calcaterra despite a stellar offseason. The Eagles clearly believe in the second-year player. This sucks for Jackson, who seems to thrive in the Summer months. There is a chance he makes the practice squad, but it’s a shame.
