Jalen Hurts was made a $255M man this week, but it’s not always Sunny in Philadelphia. According to Tim McManus of ESPN, the franchise quarterback underwent surgery on his right ankle during the offseason.
Jalen Hurts undergoes surgery
Hurts missed two games late last year with a right shoulder sprain before returning for the regular-season finale against the Giants. It’s worth noting that these situations are obviously completely separate, as the obvious conclusion to draw is that Hurts missed time last year and then had a surgery.
The proceudre, per McManus, was actually to remove “hardware” inserted when he sprained the ankle in October of 2018 while playing for Alabama. He returned in November of that season.
The surgery undergone this offseason was to remove the hardware placed inside the ankle. McManus noted that Hurts returned to his regular offseason workout program after the procedure, so it’s definitely nothing to worry about.
With OTA’s just around the corner, it’s nice to hear that Hurts will be 100% going into his first year as the true franchise quarterback and that the minor surgery was a success.
