It’s been a rocky few weeks for the Philadelphia Eagles but the good news is that help is on the way. Veteran RT Lane Johnson appears to be making his return to the team this week after missing three games due to personal reasons.

Johnson released this statement on Monday morning via his social media, updating fans on on the reasoning behind his absence:

The main thing is that Johnson is okay. There was growing concern over his wellbeing and speculation around a potential injury only grew with each day that passed without him in the building. It’s incredibly strong of Lane to stand up and make himself vulnerable on social media, admitting that he’s struggled with mental health issues.

As an offensive tackle, someone who stands at 6’6, 325 lbs and whose whole assignment is to physically dominate the man opposite him on a weekly basis, opening up about such tender topics can’t be easy. Let alone someone who is widely regarded among the top tackles in the entire league.

Mental health affects every single one of us in one way or another. Someone like Lane Johnson opening up and talking about his struggles will hopefully inspire many to do the same.

Johnson will make his return in week 7 against the Raiders and EDGE Maxx Crosby who has five sacks this season. It’s time to pave the lane once again as fans welcome the return of a true Eagles great and one of the pillars of this offense.
