With their first preseason game less than a week away, the Sixers have released their official preseason roster:
A lot of this should not come as a surprise. The Sixers had to make a couple of cuts in the past couple of days, however, those moves were just so that they had bodies while waiting for the Danny Green trade to become official.
Sixers’ Regular Season locks:
At a quick glance, there are a handful of players that are definitive locks to make the 15-man opening night roster. Most obvious enough, these guys are, in no particular order:
- Joel Embiid
- Ben Simmons
- Tobias Harris
- Matisse Thybulle
- Danny Green
- Mike Scott
- Seth Curry
- Shake Milton
- Furkan Korkmaz
- Tyrese Maxey
- Dwight Howard
- Justin Anderson
On the Cusp
Of the remaining guys on the list, a few are on the cusp of cracking that opening night roster. A couple of them, such as Ferguson and Bradley, will likely be on the roster, but the choice between them may come down to a camp battle:
- Derrick Walton
- Vincent Poirier
- Ryan Broekoff
- Terrance Ferguson
- Tony Bradley
- Isaiah Joe
Sixers’ Two Way Contracts:
Each NBA team is given the opportunity to sign guys to two way contacts. These two players will likely start the season with the Delaware Blue Coats and be called up if necessary:
- Paul Reed
- Dakota Matthias
Significant position battles:
- Starting Lineup locks: Joel Embiid, Tobias Harris, Ben Simmons
- 6th man: Seth Curry vs. Shake Milton vs. Danny Green
- Starting SG: Seth Curry vs. Danny Green
- Could either Shake Milton or Matisse Thybulle crack the starting lineup?
Projected Starting Lineup:
- Point Guard: Ben Simmons
- Shooting Guard: Seth Curry
- Small Forward: Danny Green (This may fluctuate between him and Matisee)
- Power Forward: Tobias Harris
- Center: Joel Embiid
