The Sixers have made yet another signing before the upcoming season adding Justin Robinson to the roster. Robinson played 15 games with the Delaware Blue Coats last season averaging 14.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.
For those unaware of what exactly an “Exhibit 10 contract” is, Hoopsrumors.com has a quick and concise definition:
“Exhibit 10 contracts are one-year deals worth the minimum salary. They don’t come with any compensation protection, but can include an optional bonus ranging from $5K to $50K.”
Exhibit 10 contracts are typically used for training camp invites. The bonus is often to incentivize players to stay with the team’s G League affiliate should the player be waived.
The point guard out of Virginia Tech played nine games with the Washington Wizards before joining the Delaware Blue Coats. In those games, Robinson shot 60% from three albeit on five shots.
There is no expectation for Robinson to continue to shoot 60% or even for him to make the final roster, but the team has a young ball-handling guard who can shoot and the more the merrier.
It’s not all offense for Justin Robinson either. He has shown an ability to play tenacious defense and be a pest to opposing guards. Last season with the Blue Coats, Robinson averaged 1.4 steals per game.
At 6’1″ and weighing 195 pounds, Robinson has decent size the defend at the next level as well.
Robinson will likely find himself returning to the Blue Coats but could return down the road. The Sixers certainly wanted to make sure they locked him up after his impressive season.
Whether playing for the Sixers or the Blue Coats, Robinson is a quality addition who meets the mold of a young defender who can shoot which all teams should pine after.
