The new NBA season is almost upon us and after a lot of anticipation following a stellar offseason, we now know what the first 37 games look like for this new-look Sixers team.
Ben Simmons will clash with Russell Westbrook in a season-opening bout against Washignton on December 23rd, kicking off the opening half of the season. The Sixers have a 19/18 home-road split, with their first road matchup being played in the iconic Madison Square Garden on Boxing day…(the day after Christmas Day that America apparently doesn’t celebrate as much? Maybe the Sixers will add a reason or two!)
Nine of the team’s games will be played on national television, with five more matchups being broadcast on NBA TV. 14 of the 37 games will be played on the weekend which is interesting.
This season is obviously going to be different than most due to the impact of COVID-19. In an effort to minimize travel, for teams that play twice in one market, the NBA has worked back-to-back games. The Sixers will see this on five separate occasions, with a back-to-back series against Boston in February looking particularly juicy.
