Due to some unprecedented circumstances and the holiday this past week, Liam and Ricky were unable to record the podcast. However, we still wanted to spread the love with you all this week by sharing some picks for tonight’s Eagles game.
Tonight, the 3-6-1 Philadelphia Eagles face off against MVP candidate Russell Wilson and his 7-3 Seattle Seahawks. The Eagles are coming off a pair of embarrassing yet close losses to the Giants and Browns, while Seattle is fresh off a well-deserved bye after a hard-fought win over Arizona.
Spread Pick: Seattle Seahawks -6.5
The Eagles are a mere 3-7 ATS this season, while Seattle is 6-4 ATS. On top of this, Philadelphia is an awful 1-5 ATS against teams outside of the putrid NFC East. Based on the numbers alone, Carson wentz has also been one of the worst starting quarterbacks in the league as well, as he showcases a 31st ranked 73.3 passer rating. Rumors of Jalen Hurts taking increased reps this week will likely only add fuel to this already really messy fire. Russell Wilson on the other hand has a career-best 111.5 rating so far this season, propelling that Seattle offense to league-best 31.8 points per game.
It’s no secret that this is a quarterback’s league, however, the defenses are the complete opposite as well. Seattle’s defense has been awful, while the Eagles’ stopping unit has been about average. The Eagles defense will have probably their toughest task this year with Wilson, though.
With all of this said, take the Seahawks to win and cover. The Eagles have lost six straight vs. Seattle, and haven’t beaten them at home since September 10, 1989. It pains to say as a Philadelphia site, but sportsbooks don’t care about our feelings.
Best Player Prop Pick: Russell Wilson o26.5 rushing yards
If you’re a frequent of the podcast, you know how much Ricky loves his quarterback rushing props. With Daniel Jones dealing with a new hamstring injury now, he’s redirecting his attention to another mobile quarterback.
This entire season, Wilson has dealt with the inconsistency of his offense line. If you watch football, you know that when a pocket collapses, the quarterback’s first instinct is to typically run. The Eagles defensive line has been one of their bright spots, sitting second in the league in sacks per game (3.4). We have seen this with Wilson this season, as he has rushed for totals of 40, 60, and 84 so far this season. In total, he has passed this 26.5 number in 6 of his games, with a couple of others sitting right below this.
Value Prop bet: Eagles QB Carson Wentz o1.5 Touchdowns (+115)
I know that there have been rumors of potentially benching Wentz, and I know that he hasn’t played well this year. However, for a guy who has eclipsed this number in 5 of his last 6 games, and 6 times total this season, there is great value here. In fact, coach Doug Pederson has also said that Hurts was not getting any more first-team reps than normal. To spice things up even more, Wentz has absolutely balled out on Monday night primetime in his career.
It’s not often that you can get a quarterback to throw over 1.5 touchdowns at plus money, and think that this can be an easy play here against a toward- the basement of the league pass defense.
