According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Eagles Safety Marcus Epps has tested positive for COVID-19.
Epps will be placed on the COVID-19/reserve list and will be allowed to return 10 days after his initial positive, or 5 days if he receives two negative tests at least 24-hours apart within that window.
The Eagles are on a Bye-week which obviously helps here, but a positive COVID case is never good news. However, the NFL implemented contract tracing recently in order to find players who may be at risk following the positive test of a player. The devices are to be worn during every game and team activity. One would hope that on a bye, contact with others is minimal, but depending on when the infection first presented itself, there could obviously be a greater risk.
Marcus Epps saw significant defensive snaps in weeks 4 and 5 but has largely been a rotational piece. He has 19 tackles on the season.
