The skinny on 14 players who met with Eagles at East-West Shrine Game

C Cohl Cabral | Arizona State

A well-rounded athletic center, Cabral has the athletic makeup that the Eagles covet at the position. He’s quick and has good footwork, especially for his size — 6’5″, 297 lbs. For Cohl, the biggest knock is consistency. However, he did enough to be Mel Kiper’s top-ranked center before the season started, so the upside is there.

OT Carter O’Donnell | Alberta

Oh, how I love getting the opportunity to write about a fellow Canadian. O’Donnell is a massive man at 6’6″ 315 lbs and uses his body well. He played for a pass-happy Alberta team and has solid technique in pass pro. If there’s one thing we know about Alberta boys is that they are hungry and you can see that in his run blocking. The biggest question with any U Sports transfer will be if he can compete. The technique and recognition will understandably be behind the D1 players. Still, he more than held his own at the Shrine Game. The Eagles love to find prospects in fun places and O’Donnell is certainly deserved of a good look.

OT Jon Runyan | Michigan

Son of Eagles’ great by the same name, it’s only right Philadelphia spoke with him. As a prospect, Runyan is a huge man (6’5″, 321 lbs) and has very solid pass pro technique. He’s fluid and moves well for a man his size. However, for how big he is, you’d like to see him be more physical. He’ll need some work as a run blocker.

OG Kevin Dotson | Louisiana

Another mountain of a man (6’6″, 321 lbs), Dotson is all power. Big, strong and physical, he’ll straight up run you over. His technique will need some work, but the physical traits are there. For a man of his size and stature, he moves extremely well.

OG Cameron Clark | Charlotte

A tackle in college, Clark will likely move to guard at the next level. He’s got pretty good feet and works well to the second level on run plays. However, his kick slide is narrow in pass protection. That’s nothing that can’t be fixed, but at 6’4″ 305 lbs, he’s already a tall, long guy and can’t afford to sacrifice his base. He tends to play pretty upright and may need to fill out his frame a bit. Still, he displays some good technique and understanding for run concepts and can use that to his advantage.

QB James Morgan | FIU

Probably the most impressive quarterback throughout the week, Morgan upped his stock more than most. At 6’4″ 223 lbs, he’s got the size that NFL teams want under center. He’s an accurate passer with good arm strength and actually has some sneaky athleticism. He broke a ton of records at FIU and is really just flying under the radar. Starting the month as a late-round QB prospect, he may have played himself out of the Eagles’ price range.

WR Freddie Swain | Florida

Swain was an electric player at Florida, both as a receiver and a returner. He mostly played as a slot receiver, which fits his build (6’0″, 199 lbs). Florida rotated their receivers a lot and so Swain’s production won’t be as impressive as some of the other receivers in the class. He’s got some wiggle and good lateral quickness. He’s fast, just not blazing fast. The Eagles would probably look at him as a returner with offensive upside.
