We’re in full offseason mode already! The Eagles announced the signings of eight players to future contracts. For clarity, these contracts guarantee a spot on the roster when it expands from 53 to 90 in March.
What usually happens is that teams sign their practice squads and any available PS eligible free agents. The Eagles signed eight members of their practice squad, with the only two not earning contracts being:
RB De’Angelo Henderson Sr.
OT Dieugot Joseph
A few side notes:
- It’s nice seeing WR Marken Michel brought back. He didn’t get called up to the main roster this year despite depth being so thin, so getting another shot this Summer is really cool.
- QB Kyle Lauletta could be the team’s answer to a developmental QB IF Nate Sudfeld is ready to emerge as QB2 in place of Josh McCown. Roseman cited he wants to draft a QB every year, but Lauletta is an intriguing option who should be in that conversation.
- River Cracraft has the best name in football.
- TE Alex Ellis will likely compete with Richard Rodgers (if he returns) and Josh Perkins for that all-important TE3 spot, picking up where the group left off in the Summer.
The Eagles have plenty to think about over the next few weeks and a large free-agent class to address. But with cap space on their side, this should be a very eventful offseason.
Make sure to check back regularly to get updates on all things Eagles as we prepare for what promises to be among Roseman’s most important offseasons yet.
