Strap yourselves in ladies and gentlemen, the roster cuts have begun. A team of 90 will be trimmed down to 53 by Saturday at 4PM EST and the Eagles aren’t wasting any time in getting down to business. Below you’ll find live updates and analysis so be sure to check back frequently!

Additional info:
For the Eagles to place someone on injured reserve, they have to be on the week one roster. So don’t be surprised to see some slightly surprising names cut, only to be brought back a few weeks later.

RUMORS:

Wis facing long odds

REPORTED CUTS:

SATURDAY

TE Alex EllisMike Kaye
This is a shame. Ellis has shown much more in the last few weeks than Perkins has. But Joshua Perkins will be the team’s third tight end, it seems, which does make sense given the familiarity he has with the team.

RB Wendell Smallwood

DT Treyvon Hester – Adam Caplan

WOW this one comes as a shock. Hester flashed during the preseason, building on a campaign where he was a key cog in several special teams plays and brought plenty of explosiveness on defense. With Cox’s health a little mystical, and Hassan Ridgeway a little under the rader this Summer, I guess it was assumed that Hester would remain…but the Eagles may instead opt to keep an extra edge rusher and linebacker.

OG Sua Opeta – Mike Kaye
The interior guard was an undrafted free agent and faced a tough road to make the roster. He does have a very intriguing frame and could well catch on elsewhere. If not, he’s a practice squad candidate.

RB Boston Scott – Mike Kaye
Scott’s odds of making the roster were blown up once the re-signing of Darren Sproles was confirmed. This is a shame for the LA Tech product who does have special teams value as a returner and fits the ‘Darren Sproles’ mold. A practice squad candidate who be snatched up before clearing waivers.

RB Josh Adams – Mike Garafolo

The man who led the Eagles in rushing last year ultimately fell down the depth chart this offseason due to a rejuvenated RB position, but he may catch on elsewhere given his 511 yard rookie season.

LB Alex Singleton – Mike Kaye
This one stings. After breaking out for 15 tackles on Thursday night and going head-to-head with T.J Edwards in a linebacker war, the CFL export was ultimately just short of the mark. I don’t think he’ll make it through waivers and he’s bound to attract attention from CFL teams once again. Singleton was a summer standout, but this is a real testament to the strength of this depth chart.

DT Kevin Wilkins – Ian Rapoport
The second Rutgers alumn to be cut today, the 6’2, 304 lbs, defensive tackle won the Eagles over at his pro day, but was unable to stand out amidst strong Summers from Treyvon Hester and company.

OT Riley Mayfield – Dave Zangaro
The 6-7, 302-pound tackle was signed in a corresponding move that sent veteran receiver Charles Johnson to IR. Mayfield went undrafted this year and caught on with the Bucs. His frame should lend itself to a team wanting to develop a tackle on the practice squad.

WR Carlton Agudosi – Mike Kaye
The Rutgers product rapidly became a fan favorite with his goliath frame and impressive toe-drag-swag in preseason, but there just wasn’t quite enough room on the roster, it seems. Agudosi could well be a practice squad candidate and fits the bill of bigger receivers that the Eagles seem to be targeting.

C Anthony Fabiano – His agent
Fabiano is another name who spent time with the Eagles last year, but ended up buried behind Keegan Render on the depth chart this summer. He should catch on elsewhere.

CB Orlando Scandrick – Ian Rapoport
Scandrick didn’t exactly set the world on fire after being signed in relief of Captain Cre’Von, but if the team do want to place LeBlanc on IR and retain Scandrick, LeBlanc HAS to be on the week one roster. Don’t be surprised to see Scandrick back as a reserve nickel corner in week 2, until LeBLanc is healthy.

CB Jeremiah McKinnon – NBC Sports
McKinnon spent time with the Eagles practice squad last season but was disappointing throughout the entire 2019 preseason. The Eagles have plenty of CB depth but given his familiaity, he could be a practice squad candidate.
