Defensive tackle: 5 (30)
Fletcher Cox, Malik Jackson, Timmy Jernigan, Hassan Ridgeway, Treyvon Hester
Ridgeway and Hester both make the team here, solidifying a scary defensive tackle rotation which is a huge contrast to the lack of depth the position suffered last year.
Defensive end: 6 (36)
Brandon Graham, Derek Barnett, Vinny Curry, Josh Sweat, Shareef Miller, Daeshon Hall
Preseason standout Daeshon Hall sneaks onto the roster after completely obliterating anyone in his path in the opening two weeks. This should negate the ‘need’ for veteran help and erase the idea of Connor Barwin re-joining the Eagles…for now. If an injury pops up, I still think the grizzled outside linebacker who has been working on transitioning down to DE will make a return.
Linebacker: 5 (41)
Nigel Bradham, Zach Brown, Nate Gerry, L.J Fort, Alex Singleton
Losing Kamu Grugier-Hill for a short period is one thing, but Paul Worrilow’s release paves the way for another underdog to latch on to the final 53. Gerry, Fort, and Singleton will form a committee effort behind Bradham and Brown until KGH returns from his Grade-3 MCL sprain.
Cornerback: 5 (46)
Ronald Darby, Sidney Jones, Rasul Douglas, Avonte Maddox, Orlando Scandrick
Jalen Mills will start the year on the PUP list and Cre’Von LeBlanc is obviously out for some time. Scandrick . should make the roster as a nickel corner, but don’t be surprised to see Avonte Maddox named the starter inside come week one.
Safety: 4 (50)
Rodney McLeod, Malcolm Jenkins, Andrew Sendejo, Jonathan Cyprien
The four most talented safeties make the roster to form a veteran quarter of starter-level production. No more needs to be said here, this is a dream scenario for the Birds.
Specialists: 3 (53)
Jake Elliott, Cameron Johnston, Rick Lovato
The three muskateers return!
