The NFL Network’s top 100 player list is always fun. It’s a sign that football season is on the horizon and is of course subject to everyone being angry that their favorite player isn’t at the top of a pecking order voted on by players around the league.

If your favorite player is Carson Wentz, move any liquid away from your laptop/phone right now just in case you accidentally spill it out of frustration. Wentz is ranked 96th. Ninety. Sixth.

One spot above Byron Jones. Yikes. I mean, the Madden ratings were bad but this is just a little insulting. Maybe it adds a fuel to the fire, we’ve seen what happens when the Eagles get disrespected after all…

It’s hard to believe that Wentz was the number 3 ranked player in this list just one year ago, coming off an ACL tear and an MVP level campaign, and somehow, despite setting a new career-high in completion percentage and playing less than 100%, still sits so low.

Wentz re-joined the offense in week 3 of 2018 and went on to pass for over 3,000 yards, 21 touchdowns and a completion percentage of 69%. In just 11 games, he finished in the top 10 for QB rating, ahead of Jared Goff, Andrew Luck, Dak Prescott, and Ben Roethlisberger. But sure, rank 96 is fine.

Maybe the back-to-back season-ending injuries really matter to those around the NFL. It will be incredibly interesting to see where Super Bowl 52 MVP Nick Foles is ranked.

Either way, we can expect to see plenty more Eagles on this list as the series continues, hopefully in spots that recognize their brilliance.
