The main storyline to watch here centralizes around Sudfeld and Kessler. The Eagles are obviously high on Sudfeld and have been for some time, and pitting him against a fringe-starter in Kessler should give the Birds a very strong idea of where he’s at development wise, which again could go one of two ways. Sudfeld was strong in OTA’s and seemed to meet the challenge head-on, but the reality is that the Eagles will likely take three quarterbacks into the regular season.
If Sudfeld shines and Thorson struggles, there is a chance that either Kessler stays with the team, or even that the team sign a veteran arm to come in and essentially take Thorson’s role for now. If Sudfeld can’t beat out Kessler, this possibility is far more likely and there are an abundance of older QB’s out there who could fill that void. (Cc: Josh Johnson, Landry Jones).
Believe it or not, there’s more noise in the quarterback room than meets the eye. From the maturing of Carson Wentz, to the scrap for QB2/3 spots, this is going to be an oddly intense camp for the signal callers.
