We’ve seen this before, we’re seeing it again. In 2016, Carson Wentz met with Jordan Matthews prior to OTA’s, arriving at the NovaCare Complex early to put in work ahead of his first set of offseason workouts. In 2017, Wentz brought out many of the Eagles contributors, such as Zach Ertz, Alshon Jeffery, Jordan Matthews, and Trey Burton, to North Dakota prior to Training Camp to build that rapport, have some fun, and work out.
After rehabbing a torn ACL last offseason, Wentz is now able to build bonds with his receivers by working out once more.
Mack Hollins and Nelson Agholor are the two receivers currently in attendance, but the list surely isn’t limited to those two…although, I really want to know who won Ping Pong.
It’ll be interesting to keep an eye out on names like J.J Arcega-Whiteside, who as a rookie, would likely benefit greatly from this kind of team-building week, while Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson are also guys who are probable to turn up. Zach Ertz was in France watching his wife, Julie, win the Women’s World Cup, so he may not be coming out, or could be a little delayed due to some much-needed celebrations and relaxation.
Either way, it’s great to see Wentz spending time with his teammates off the field, especially considering he enters 2019 off the back of an article that ripped into his character using anonymous sources. After meeting that head-on with a sense of maturity, Wentz looks to be showing every sign of being the ultimate teammate he was previously known to be.
The Eagles will report to Training Camp on July 24th.
