Darrius Davis is a talented 2021 point guard prospect. He is very quick, explosive, and very athletic. He stands 6-4 170 and he attends Teays Valley Christian high school in Scott Depot, West Virginia. I talked to him about his early recruitment.
LJ: Is LaSalle still recruiting you?
Darrius: Yes.
LJ: I remember talking to coach Ashley Howard about you and he loves your game. What do you like about LaSalle?
Darrius: Coach Ashley Howard stands out the most. When I spoke with him you could hear and feel the Championship/Winning presence he has from when he was in Villanova.
LJ: What schools keep in contact with you the most?
Darrius: After having 16 points and 12 Rebounds Guarding Cole Anthony and Cam Thomas against Oak Hill, Oregon and West Virginia. West Virginia has watched me work out a couple of times and Oregon has called my Prep school coach numerous times about me. Rhode Island loves my game they saw me play. The next game, they immediately brought the whole staff when I played K low elite and offered me.
LJ: What do schools like about you on the court?
Darrius: Schools love how hard I play. I win every 50/50 Ball. Coach Ashley Howard offered me simply for every little thing I do on top of my talent.
LJ: What schools are showing you interest that haven’t offered?
Darrius: Oregon and West Virginia. I’m pretty close to picking up an Oregon offer.
LJ: What were your averages last season?
Darrius: 12 points per game, 5 Assist, 7 rebounds and 3 steals per game.
LJ: What are you looking to show that wasn’t in your game last season?
Darrius: Showcasing Elite point guard skills to compliment my ability to attack downhill and Shooting. My shot is coming together well and I have been keying in on being an elite shooter and sharpening my pace with the ball.
LJ: What were games you have had against some of the best prospects in the country? What were the names of the prospects you scored against?
Darrius: Cole Anthony, Cam Thomas, Jaemyn Brakefield JT Thor, Michael Foster, Che Evans, Oscar Tshiebwe and many other ESPN top 100 guys. My most recent was 30 points against D1 Minnesota guys in the Adidas Gauntlet. Every team I guard the team’s best players I love playing defense.
LJ: When do you plan to visit LaSalle?
Darrius: I visited once already the next time will be when I start really keying in on my recruitment, now I’m focused on getting better and developing my game and letting that speak for myself then start visiting schools later on.
LJ: How do you feel about Rhode Island? What stands out about them?
Darrius: I like Rhode Island the coaching staff seemed genuine. Their style of play stands out to me, how they get up and down. They spoke to my parents and brother and had some very long conversations so I know they feel VERY highly of me.
