The Philadelphia Flyers motto is to remain patient and await the course. This is an uncommon practice in year’s past for the Flyers organization. However, Flyers fans are now beginning to see the transformation of a young Flyers team that is stocking up for long-term success. Fans are hoping it pays off within the next few years with a parade down Broad Street. With a sniper in the future like Joel Farabee anything is possible.

It’s never easy transitioning from one town to another, but that’s exactly what Farabee did for development purposes for the sport he loves. Farabee hails from Syracuse, New York, and has transitioned quite well to the Boston life while playing some good hockey for Boston University, “It’s not too bad,” Farabee exclaims, “The weather is pretty similar to where I’m from. It wasn’t easy coming to a big city like this. It’s definitely been interesting and new but a lot of fun. The Beanpot was pretty fun. We obviously didn’t finish where we wanted to, but it was a cool experience. I’m excited to do it again.”

Check this clip out to see how well he has adjusted to the great sport of hockey:

March 16, 2019 Flyers Prospect Joel Farabee with an crazy good goal for Boston University

After watching this highlight reel goal, I mean Holyyyyyyyyy Schnikes? This was like the old days when a Philadelphia Eagles star Eric Allen would make a pick six. Farabee is the Eric Allen within the Flyers organization. The Flyers need threats for pick sixes while being short-handed. That would keep most teams honest, “Transitioning from the Defensive Zone to the Offensive Zone is a staple of my game.”

Farabee continues, “I have some leadership qualities on and off the ice. I’m pretty vocal on the ice. Off the ice, I’m quiet as I do my work, and do what I need to do.”

This young up and coming prospect in Farabee was born on February 25, 2000, in Cicero, NY. Farabee has entered the NCAA with a force in just his first season as a Boston Terrier. For the season, he finished 48th in the NCAA in scoring, as Farabee has potted 17 goals, and tallied 19 assists. He’s just a Freshman…a Freshman putting up this type of stats. His family means the world to him, and maybe they helped him put this great year together.

“There’s a lot of people that helped me get to this point in my career, but I have to say my brother. He’s been kind of been through the whole experience with me. All my youth coaches. There’s not just one person that got me to where I am at today, so there’s a lot to go into it.

The young man in Farabee loves watching hockey. He watched his idol in Patrick Kane light the lamp for the Chicago Blackhawks many times, but when Farabee is home he likes to attend some Syracuse Crunch games if he can. This kid just loves the sport, as Farabee eats, breathes, and just enjoys the great sport of hockey, “I go to 1 or 2 Crunch games when I’m home (Laughing),” Farabee said, “It’s a fun atmosphere in their rink. Patrick Kane…he’s a player I like to watch and model my game after for sure. Kane is from Buffalo, and I’m from Syracuse. He’s an American born player too, like me.”

If a person saw Farabee play for the Terriers this past season, then one would have instantly noticed his smooth skating ability. Farabee has grown so much in his years of playing the sport of hockey, and he may be turning into a real steal for the orange and black.

It’s also comforting for Farabee to have a good bud with him along the way helping adjust to college life in Logan Cockerill, and some NHL stuff of course. Cockerill was drafted by the New York Islanders in the 7th round of the 2017 NHL Draft. Farabee and Cockerill remain teammates with the Terriers, but they are also teammates for the WJC Tournaments as members of the US National Team, as well.

I definitely look up to Logan. We play on the National Team and Development Teams together. He’s a really good friend of mine. With the draft and all he’s been through it too. We feed ideas off each other at Development camp, so it’s good.”

Hopefully, Farabee will pan out the way the Flyers envision him to. Farabee has the heart, the will, and the strength to become a Top 6 GEM for the Flyers. Farabee leaves us with a very unique message for Flyers fans:

“Flyers fans can expect a lot of energy from me, and work hard. I will give all I can to the organization, and do what I need to do. I play a lot of different roles, and I can fit in anywhere in the lineup.”

Could Farabee sign an ELC this Summer?!, It’s tough to say right now. I’m focusing on the end of season with the playoffs, and what not. When the season ends I haven’t decided what I’m going to do yet, but I’ll decide when that time comes.”
