Just who are these Philadelphia Flyers? Are they the playoff hopeful Flyers, or are they the Flyers that feel short?

Things are getting interesting with the orange and black. They have fought off every type of adversity one could imagine this season, and they are still within the playoff hunt. Will the real Flyers please stand up! They are standing now, large and proud within striking distance of the last playoff spot. Without further delay, here are our answers to your questions.

I think Matt Duchene is the best choice, followed by Artemi Panarin, and lastly Erik Karlsson. Duchene is a center/wing that could take the center position for Giroux. One thing the Flyers need to do is save the wear and tear on Giroux, and with the addition of Duchene that would seem likely. Giroux is the engine that runs the Flyers, they need him as much as possible.

Panarin appears to have an idea of where he wants to end up, and that may not include Philadelphia. To me Duchene has a higher probability to land with the Flyers than Panarin. Either way the Flyers will grab a top free agent mark my words.

Brandon thanks so much for your support. It means a lot

The Flyers will definitely be in the market for Joel Quenneville, that is if Coach Q wants to come to Philadelphia. He would be their 1A, and Coach Gordon would be the 1B. Gordon has done a heck of a job, especially with the youth. I would be happy with either or. However, Coach Q is a once in a lifetime coach, and the Flyers will be interested for sure.

There are two top free agents the Flyers will seek, and they are Artemi Panarin and Matt Duchene. Realistically the Flyers will end up with one of them. With the way Chuck Fletcher has talked, and the way I am feeling this organization is at this time. I guarantee the orange and black will make a big splash or two.

Nick thanks so much for your support. Keep your head up with taking on a larger role for hockey. Team MVPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP congrats.

Joel Farabee is on quite the tear in just his first season for Boston University. The kid has been nothing short of phenomenal. I do have an interview with him coming up, and I will ask him to personally autograph a napkin for you. I love the humor in this question.

Craig thanks for your support. It means a lot

Absolutely. With the way the Flyers have played in their last 21 games why not. They are 15-4-2, and Nolan Patrick has given the Flyers ham and cheese sandwiches for life. Shoot with the way they have been playing maybe they should start making some ham and grilled cheese sandwiches in honor of Claude Giroux.

Tommy you’re the man. Thanks for your support.

I think $2 million per year would be a fair deal for Cam Talbot. I would presume it would be a one or two year deal. It would also provide stability for our very own Carter Hart, as these two are good friends.

Locking up Hart to a long-term deal would be fantastic in hindsight, and I like your thinking. However, this should be done mid-season next year, or that off-season. This is a critical offseason for Fletcher and the Flyers, adding a bigger honey-do list may cause Fletcher to go off track, thus missing a big fish in free agency. Fletcher has his work cut out right away with five current RFA’s, so he should stay on track.

The Flyers will definitely make a big splash in free agency 100%. Who will that be? I believe it will be Matt Duchene. The Flyers could use Duchene to save the wear and tear on Giroux playing Center. My 1B for the Flyers is Artemi Panarin. However, I do believe the Flyers will also add a top 4 Defenseman. Fletcher has hinted at this more than once, whether it was at the trade deadline or in the offseason.

To pave the way for another defenseman, I believe Andrew MacDonald will be bought out. The Flyers would be on the hook for MacDonald’s cap until the 2020-21 season according to Cap Friendly. Moreover, MacDonald’s cap hit would be $1.16 million for the first year and $1.91 million for the second year.

Samuel Morin will enter the lineup when the Flyers are out of the playoffs. He signed a three-year deal last year when he was injured. They will not risk a playoff run to see what they have in Morin. The Flyers like Morin, and they hope that he could get back to 100%. Moreover, that’s another reason they’re being cautious with him. When he returned to the big club from his rehab stint, he was definitely not ready for game action. Morin has worked hard for his return, and the Flyers should be cautious with him.

The Flyers will definitely pursue coach Quenneville in the offseason. He is a once-in-a-lifetime coach, and Scott Gordon would be the 1B. Gordon has done well with this young bunch, and if we can’t get Coach Q then I would be more than happy with Gordon. However, if Coach Q wants to come here the job should be his. Moreover, I would also believe the Flyers would like to have a coach in place before the draft. That way he knows exactly what his team looks like following the draft, and perhaps he can give some insight at the draft.

Konecny- 3-4 years $4-4.5 mil per

Provorov- 6 years $36-$39 mil (6-6.5 AAV)

Sanheim- 4 years $4-4.5 mil per

Hartman- 2 years $1.7 mil (850,000 AAV)

Laughton- 2 years $2-2.5 mil

With these five new contracts, there’s approximately $17.3-17.8 million tied up in cap space (On the high). The Flyers will begin the offseason with approximately $36 million dollars worth of cap space (assuming the UFA’s don’t resign), so this would leave them with approximately $18.5-19 million left to spend. There’s plenty of cap space to land a top free agent or two.

The Flyers will move a defensemen on the backend to clear space or the log jam we currently are being faced with. The bottom 6 will be filled in other ways. For instance, with players moving down the depth chart because of free agent acquisitions. Also, keep in mind we also have the prospects (NAK, Rubtsov, Vorobyev), with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to fill some of those spots. Moreover, we also can’t rule out the possibility of Morgan Frost making the team either out of camp.

Scott Laughton, I think resigns with the club, and he provides versatility with the bottom-six, as well. It will be interesting for sure, but I think the back end will be cleared up due to the current log jam of defensemen on the big club at this time. Either way it’s shaping up to be a great, critical off-season.

Connor thanks for this action packed question. Mind you I never give up on a prospect, and I hope each one succeeds. Thanks a lot for your support.

I believe the Flyers will make a big splash in free agency regardless of who the coach is. Fletcher will be very active with approximately $17.3-17.8 million in cap space, after resigning the RFA’s to new contracts. I think it will cost around $16 million to resign the 5 RFA’s the Flyers have (Sanheim, Konecny, Hartman, Provorov, and Laughton).
