Philadelphia: The future stars of the NBA get developed in the NBA G League and that is what we had on Wednesday night as the Delaware Blue Coats took on Lakeland Magic from the Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia. The Blue Coats are the G League Affiliates of the Philadelphia 76ers & Lakeland Magic are the G League team of the Orlando Magic. The Blue Coats are 9-13 on the season while Lakeland is 12-8 on the season.
This game features former LaSalle Explorers star BJ Johnson & Friends Central Amile Johnson as they are both on Lakeland Magic.
Both teams would miss their first shots of the game, Melvin Frazier would get the scoring going early on for the Magic. Haywood Highsmith who played in the Sixers win last night got some action early on. Lakeland would take 25-18 at end of 1st quarter.
In the second quarter, the Blue Coats would try to keep the game close as they got the Lakeland. The Blue Coats would take their first lead of the game on 4 straight points from Ryan Anderson which made it 33-32. The Blue Coats would make things difficult for the Magic as they would make them make mistakes. The Blue Coats would take a 49-38 lead into halftime.
Both teams would score to start the 2nd half and the Blue Coats would keep the Pressure on the Magic, Lakeland would go on a run and cut the lead down to 1 The Blue Coats would go on a run of their own as they took a 70-69 at end of 3rd quarter.
In the fourth Quarter, Lakeland would retake the lead and then the Blue Coats would answer the run. Blue Coats would make some clutch 3 three-pointers down the stretch. BJ Johnson would make some clutch three-pointer and Lakeland would not go away. The Blue Coats would play good defense as the Blue Coats take down Lakeland 101-96.
Amile Jefferson finished with 22 points while BJ Johnson put in 14 points for Lakeland.
Haywood Highsmith put in 11 points & Rashad Vaugh had a game-high 18 for the Blue Coats
