Free Agency kicks off today but that didn’t stop the Eagles from making waves last week. Acquiring the services of 3x Pro Bowler Michael Bennett, the Eagles fortified their defensive front for this season. But just how much will Bennett change things for the Eagles?
This episode of Eagles Film Room is split into two sections. A look at Michael Bennett as a defensive end and one as a defensive tackle. The worrying part for the other 31 teams in the NFL is that Bennett is dominant in both.
Bennett posted up 8.5 sacks and 40 tackles last year, his ninth season in the NFL. The three-time Pro Bowler also tallied 24 quarterback hits despite battling injuries. Regardless of what the future holds for Vinny Curry or even Beau Allen, Bennett is able to succeed on the outside or in the inside just as well. With an arsenal of pass-rush moves at his disposal and an incredibly athletic makeup, Bennett could become one of the most dynamic weapons we’ve seen in this Eagles defense since the arrival of Jim Schwartz. ‘How?’ I hear you ask.
