There’s no such thing as a quiet offseason in Philadelphia. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of acquiring veteran pass-rusher Michael Bennett.
Here it goes: Seahawks are trading DE Michael Bennett and a seventh-round pick to Eagles for a fifth-round pick and WR Marcus Johnson, sources tell ESPN.

The Eagles will send a fifth-round pick along with wide receiver, Marcus Johnson, in exchange for the services of the three-time Pro Bowler. If it’s indeed a 2018 pick, the team do lose some draft strength…but there’s no smoke without fire.
This likely means that the Eagles will be trading Vinny Curry. After reports surfaced of a potential restructure and Curry carrying such a heavy cap-hit, this move likely lightens the cap-load and gives the team some leverage in trading their draftee. Replacing him with a veteran who signed a three-year extension in December of 2016.
The move means that the Eagles will now have a fearsome pass-rush once again, even if Vinny Curry or dome depth defensive tackles are lost in the offseason.
The 31-year old is coming off of a highly productive year that saw him register 40 tackles and 8.5 sacks. His high motor and Pro-Bowl pedigree will be a welcome addition in the Eagles relentless defensive machine. Bennett has been a staple of Pete Carroll’s defense since being signed in 2013 and will now have a shot to inject even more explosiveness into one of the league’s most ferocious pass-rushes.
We’ll have plenty more on this story as details continue to emerge.
