The Philadelphia Flyers are just flat out fire. Like the show’s hit song from Hell’s Kitchen, “Fire (Uh) [Uh] Fire (Its all about) [Uh, uh], Fire (Woo, woo, woo), Fire.” They are just racking up the points en route to a five game winning streak after beating the lowly Ottawa Senators, with a 5-3 onslaught this past Saturday.

With the Flyers only trailing the Washington Capitals by one point in the standings. One would believe that the orange and black would be silent on the day of the trade deadline. However, it was anything but as the Flyers claimed waived Defenseman Johnny Oduya from the Ottawa Senators. This move may have came to fruition as the Colorado Avalanche had claimed Flyers Defenseman Mark Alt off waivers.

Alt was a class act during his tenure in Philadephia. He was sitting in the press box as a seventh defenseman for the past few weeks. For his career, Alt played in 8 NHL games for the orange and black and registered zero points. Oduya brings with him two Stanley Cup rings as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013 and 2015. Moreover, Oduya has played in 106 career playoff games to boot, so he has a ton of veteran playoff experience. Oduya currently has 4 goals, 4 assists, and is a +2 on the season.

The Flyers are all in on this playoff push, as they only sit one point back out of first place in the Metropolitan Division to the Washington Capitals. With only 20 games remaining in the regular season for the Flyers. Oduya is more than capable of having a huge impact on the orange and black’s playoff implications. One thing is certain Flyers fans, the future is bright in Flyer land.
