The Eagles are 7-1 after a dominant victory over the San Francisco 49ers. While the matchup was filled with ups and downs, one of the biggest plays of the game came from an unlikely place.
Jalen Mills picked off a pass intended for Pierre Garcon and veered towards the sideline. Instead of running out of bounds, Mills turned back inside and headed for the endzone where he would record his first career pick-six.
Only fitting that @greengoblin gets a pick-six on Halloween weekend. #FlyEaglesFly pic.twitter.com/LTKkiQXSsT

That was the third interception of the year for the Green Goblin. When asked about the highlight reel play by reporters, Mills had a very interesting response.

“Malcolm (Jenkins), Coach Schwartz and Coach Undlin, they been grilling me all week talking about how I have no return skills. That kinda went through my mind so I curved back and had to get to the endzone or I’d never hear the end of it.”
The former seventh round pick has come on leaps and bounds since he was first dropped into NFL waters in week one last year, and it seems like after some tough love and laughter from his peers, he’s now been able to add a return ability to his game.
On Halloween weekend, no corner shined brighter than the Green Goblin who is having an impressive year. There is no doubting that the mentoring and leadership in the DB room has played a fundamental role in his development. From Cory Undlin and Malcolm Jenkins, to veteran Corey Graham and Patrick Robinson, the Eagles are building a solid foundation for the future. But that’s another story for another article.
For now, let’s just take this moment to appreciate how far Jalen Mills has come since being drafted in the seventh round out of LSU one year ago.
