With day 3 of Flyers training camp now in the books, the new look youth filled Flyers movement looks flat out great. It’s a breath of fresh air at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees, NJ.

The majority of Flyers prospects are going to be on display on Long Island with a 1 pm pre-season tilt against the rival New York Islanders. However, some rookies were still on display at the Flyers Skate Zone. No they, “Didn’t start the fire,” like the song Billy Joel sings. Moreover, some prospects finally came out of their shells today and looked pretty good. Here are my three takeaways from day 3 of training camp.

Colin McDonald
McDonald has quietly had a strong Flyers Training Camp. He has always been on the cusp of making the Flyers roster, so McDonald may understand his role with the team.

This young AHL’er had a great day at camp. McDonald was all over the ice. His skating was strong and he battled hard for pucks along the boards. McDonald had a good day yesterday, but he took full advantage of the prospects that made the trip to Long Island.

Anthony Salinitri
Salinitri had a marvelous day at camp today. He was strong with the puck, as his speed was in full force. The young prospect has a lethal wrist shot as he potted two early goals on a one on one drill. It would hard to bank on Salinitri making the big club this fall, but he looks like a prospect waiting in the wings. Personally, I think he gets sent back to his junior team of the Sarnia Sting today or tomorrow.

Pascal Laberge
Laberge has quietly had a strong camp thus far. Today was a day of fun for him, after suffering an apparent injury in Friday’s practice. Laberge looked loose, but he had a cannon of a slap shot today. He roofed one top shelf over Carter Hart’s shoulder. The young prospect just looks far more composed this year at camp. Hopefully, he regains his old form as he seems 100% healthy following a bad concussion last year for his junior club the Victoriaville Tigres.

The Flyers tilt against the New York Islanders today features the defense of the future. Ivan Provorov, Samuel Morin, Robert Hagg, Philippe Myers, Shayne Gostisbehere, and Travis Sanheim. Unfortunately, the game cannot be live streamed today on the Flyers website. But, you can catch the game on 97.5 The Fanatic, if your interested in listening. Stay with us for the most in-depth Flyers camp coverage.
