On a day where two Eagles are headed to the Pro bowl, there is one who won’t be. Left Tackle Jason Peters has been replaced on the NFC roster by Green Bay Packers tackle David Bakhitari.
First reported in a press release by the Green Bay Packers, Peters is unable to play in the Pro bowl due to an injury.
Peters was voted by the fans as the Eagles Toyota Player Of The Year and ranked 7th in PFF’s rankings of Offensive tackles. After battling injury in years past, many wondered if this would be the last we see of Peters in midnight green. The veteran left tackle responded by playing in 97% of snaps en route to what was his ninth Pro bowl nod.
The 34-year old was a fundamental part of the Eagles Offense in 2016 and could well have a role just as large in the 2017 season. Missing the Pro bowl certainly wasn’t on his to do list, but after a grueling season with a Bye week after just three games, it’s not hard to see how fatigue and the rigors of another 16 game season could have hampered one of the most decorated linemen in Eagles history.
You can still catch newly named Pro bowlers Darren Sproles and Jason Kelce compete for the NFC Team on January 29th at 8PM EST live on ESPN.
