It was reported yesterday that the Philadelphia Eagles worked out free agent wide receiver Aaron Dobson. Today, ESPN’s Adam Caplan confirmed the report as well as confirming three other workouts that took place yesterday.

The first of the workouts was free agent quarterback Brad Sorensen. The 28-year old was drafted by the Chargers in 2013, spending most of his NFL career on their practice squad. He joined the Titans practice squad in 2014 before being signed to the Chargers active roster last season.

Most recently, Sorensen joined the Vikings (of all teams) but was eventually released during their roster cuts. The Vikings then bought Sorensen back following the news of Teddy Bridgewater’s horrific injury, only to waive him again days later. Sorensen is yet to take an NFL regular season snap and has accounted for three touchdowns, seven picks and 786 yards in preseason games.

The Eagles entered the season with just two quarterbacks on their roster after trading Sam Bradford to Minnesota, so adding a third seems logical and is something that Doug Pederson has addressed in his press conferences.

We reported the workout of former Patriots wideout Aaron Dobson last night, but Adam Caplan reported three new names worked out for the team on the same day.

DeAndrew White was an undrafted rookie free agent in 2015, signed by the 49ers. Surprisingly, White was waived this year during roster cuts despite the departures of Anquan Boldin and Jerome Simpson, not to mention an injured Bruce Ellington. White caught two passes for 18 yards last season and struggled to make an impact under Chip Kelly during the preseason, failing to make a catch in the preseason finale and catching two passes for 30 yards against the Broncos.

Former Chiefs wideout Da’Ron Brown was also among those working out yesterday according to Caplan. A seventh round pick in 2015, Brown spent last season on the Chiefs practice squad and was competing for the final WR spot during the preseason but failed to stand out from the crowd. At 6’0 and 205-pounds, Brown is very reminiscent of preseason hero, Paul Turner. A reliable pair of hands who excels in bubble screens and slants but lacks the speed, physicality or athleticism to become a dominant weapon.

Finally, former BYU receiver Jordan Leslie, who was waived by the Falcons during their roster trimming process, also worked out for the Eagles. Leslie amassed three catches for 48 yards in during the Falcons preseason, with 35 of those coming against the Browns. Leslie, who signed with the Vikings after going undrafted last year, suffered a mild knee injury during Training camp. In 2014, Leslie caught 55 passes for 779 yards and 6 touchdowns.

It’s interesting that both Brown and Leslie worked out for the Patriots less than a week ago, with Dobson working out for the Jets days before his day in Philadelphia. The Eagles receiving corps looked confident and comfortable with Carson Wentz at the helm against the Browns..and after the additions of DGB and Bryce Treggs, the team may not be too intent on unsettling the position with another signing, knowing that the ever deserving Paul Turner is on the practice squad.
