According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Eagles are trading second year cornerback Eric Rowe for Josh Kline and a draft pick.

While the news itself may be surprising, the Patriots have shown interest in Eric Rowe this offseason, as I reported previously.

Per @LiamJenkins21: Pats have some interest in #Eagles CB Eric Rowe. NE cut Cre'Von LeBlanc and liked Rowe pre-draft. No developments yet.

Rowe is a cornerback who despite a quietly impressive preseason, has reportedly struggled to adapt to Jim Schwartz’s system throughout the Summer. His talent is unquestionable, but a fit in this system is imperative..and something that Rowe just didn’t seem to be.
In his rookie season, Rowe amassed 31 tackles and an interception after enduring a trial by fire on “Megatron island”.
The Eagles meanwhile appear to be continuing their trend of building from the ball out, by trading him for 26 year old RG Josh Kline. After undergoing shoulder surgery during the offseason, Kline had struggled in preseason..but with the Eagles wanting to add depth behind Brandon Brooks, the move is a good one in terms of what they received.
I'm told the Eagles got both Josh Kline and a 2018 4th-round pick that could become a 3rd-round pick.

Eagles and Patriots nearly had a trade worked out for Eric Rowe last week. But new deal gets done today.
