Just yesterday, Pro Bowl Defensive End Fletcher Cox came out and told Connor Corr that Philadelphia is where he wants to be for “the long haul”. Well a day later and another contract extension in the books, it’s likely that Cox could well be the next man to receive a new contract.
#Eagles and Fletcher Cox are working on a new deal and are close, per source.

This is a no brainer for the Eagles. After being named as a Pro Bowler for the first time in his career, the Defensive End is comparable with some of the biggest names in the league at his position. A career year saw Cox rack up a monster 9.5 sacks and an intimidating 50 tackles.
If Cox doesn’t sign a deal this year, the Eagles could only be shooting themselves in the foot. Under Jim Schwartz the likelihood of Cox having another monster season and earning a much higher contract is very probable. Not only that but their current ways of negotiation are all pointing towards creating future leverage..(we’ll get to that in an article later today) by not signing Cox, you’re doing the opposite.
Cox has shown just how dominant he can be for the Eagles, but will the birds do the smart thing and work out a new contract now, before he becomes the next Ndamukong Suh and is worth a lot more money that teams would be more than willing to pay?
