After narrowly missing out on our 11th successful week of predictions, we have just two games remaining until the curtains close on another rollercoaster NFL season. With an 10-4 record coming into this week, we’re still by far the most accurate prediction series on the planet when it comes to the Eagles.. so we’re hoping for a Christmas miracle tomorrow as we look for an 11-4 record heading into the final week. Here are our three bold predictions for tomorrow’s must-win for the Eagles.
3) Bradford comes through
It’s been a bit of a wild ride for Sam Bradford this season and when the Eagles met the Redskins in week 4, he had arguably one of his bet outings of the season. 270 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions saw Bradford finally throw the ball down the field and take advantage of a faltering secondary.
A lot has changed in 10 weeks and Bradford is clearly on a hot streak. In four of his last five games Sammy B has a passer rating of 99 or higher and in that time has thrown 7 touchdowns and three interceptions. For this week..with the stakes being as high as they are, we’re predicting Sam Bradford to deliver his biggest game of the season and prove to both fans and analysts alike that he is the man to lead this team going into next season. Our first prediction is Sam Bradford to throw 4 touchdowns and hit 350 yards passing on the day.
2) Not broke, just bent
The Eagles secondary is battered and bruised as it heads into the festive period. With Maxwell likely sidelined and Rowe returning from a concussion, dealing with Jackson and Garcon who have 8 TD’s between them, Jordan Reed who has 9 and an in form Kirk Cousins is going to be a seriously tough challenge. However, with the potential of an undrafted rookie making his defensive debut in midnight green and a season defining test of the coaching of Billy Davis, there is a chance that the secondary could do the unthinkable.
Whilst D-Jax is likely to take full advantage of the likes of Jaylen Watkins having caught a 20+ yard pass in three consecutive games, he still has to face the likes of Malcolm Jenkins and Walter Thurmond who between them have 5 interceptions on the season. The Eagles could well create mismatches intentionally just to ensure that Jenkins will be the man effectively covering the former bird down field..it sounds suicidal but it kind of makes sense.
Our second prediction is that the Eagles will force Kirk Cousins to throw just his third interception in six games and force at least one fumble. This is the biggest game of the year for a hurting Eagles Secondary..but Chip said it best, “we’re from Philadelphia..we fight”
1) Better late than never
Jordan Matthews struggled massively in the opening games of the season. Drops were haunting his every move and the confidence that was glaring off of his back last season turned to grey. But in recent weeks, there has been a change..J-Matt (after reportedly playing through a hand injury) has upped his game massively in recent weeks..don’t believe us? Let this chart demonstrate..
Whilst still not as consistent as we’d like, he now ranks 29th in receiving among all NFL receivers and is still on course to hit as many yards as he did in his rookie season. But it’s this week where Sam Bradford needs a reliable pair of hands most and someone to emerge as a number one receiver.
Our final prediction is that Matthews continues his improvement en route to a career game, receiving for 200 yards for the first time ever and recording two or more touchdowns in the process.
Now let’s get that W.
