The Eagles are still practicing this week but unlike the opening couple of weeks, the media are not allowed into the NovaCare complex.
However defensive co-ordinator Bill Davis has been reported as saying today that DeMeco Ryans may not be 100% by the time the team play the Falcons on September 14th. (Story from http://bleedinggreennation.com)
The Eagles linebacker suffered a torn Achillies during the 2014 campaign and despite working hard to rehab in the off-season and then work in training camp, there still remains a lot of uncertainty.
For the birds, we can take this as a firm indication that Ryans will not feature in the two remaining pre-season games whilst Kiko Alonso is hopeful of playing against the Packers this weekend.
The good news is that the linebacker core hasn’t exactly looked terrible in Ryans’ absence. Acho had a good showing recently whilst the recently extended Mychal Kendricks is set to have a big season alongside Kiko Alonso. The Eagles have played the Ravens and the Colts with a very weak linebacker lineup in comparison to what it could be and still had a lot of control in the trenches. Whilst it’s obviously a setback and game fitness could be an issue, it’s not the end of the world as the birds await Mufasa’s return.
