With the deadline ever closing, the speculation over who will sign Phillies ace Cole Hamels continues to grow. As of right now however, according to John Heyman of CBS Sports it’s a two horsed race between the Texas Rangers and L.A. Dodgers.
The Cubs are also reportedly interested in the 13th pitcher to pitch no-hitter in Phillies history after seeing what damage the 31 year old can do first hand.
The Rangers may edge the race currently however as the Phils have turned their attention to both Jorge Alfaro and Nomar Mazara. It’s obvious after such an emphatic performance that the Phillies would seek one or indeed both players in return for Hamels.
The Phillies’ however may not be satisfied with what they’re hearing from any team. The Phils are apparently continuing their efforts to snatch Aaron Judge from the Yankees or Luis Severino. But if they want to build for the future, then the Cubs may be the best option due to the unrelenting depth in minor league teams..only time will tell where Hamels will end up.
Just a reminder: Hamels' 9-team "trade to" list is: NYY, TEX, WAS, STL, ATL, SD, LAD, CUBS, METS. All other teams require his approval.
