After less than two full seasons as Phillies Manager, Ryne Sandberg has resigned during press conference on Friday. Sandberg took over the team in late 2013 following the firing of longtime manager Charlie Manuel.

Pete Mackanin will serve as the interim manager and his previous experiences with the team will be invaluable. Mackanin used to play for the team and also coached them. He has spent this season until now as the third-base coach and also had the role of bench coach for 3 years under Manuel.
