Under Armour and Phillies‘ star first baseman Bryce Harper have been a perfect partnership so far. Whether you’re a baseball fan, a shoe/cleat fan, or a collector – there has been something released in limited fashion to scratch the collective itch of all the above. Last year, they dropped a graded cleat/turf shoe in partnership with card grader PSA. This spring training, we got the ‘Bring the Juice’ — a spring training and orange juice-themed shoe.
Opening Day is a day for celebration, and for UA and Harper – it’s a day to drop some new heat. Bryce’s love for the Phillie Phanatic cannot be overstated, from headbands to sliding gloves and, most recently, a tattoo (yes, it’s permanent). Harper has honored the most famous person (animal? creature?) in Philadelphia history every chance he’s had.
In partnership with Under Armour, he is releasing a new cleat to honor his furry friend. These one-of-a-kind Harper 9 cleats blend the colors seen on the beloved mascot—lime green, blue, and pink— further showing his love for the Phanatic beyond words. The design also incorporates a few different Philly-themed charms, including the iconic skyline, Bryce’s jersey number, 3, a boxing glove for the city’s deep history in the fighting sport, a four-wheeler (similar to his new ink), the Liberty Bell, and some of Harper’s favorite phrases, like “We Don’t Care” and “Jawn.”
These cleats feature a standout gold foil logo on the heel reading “#1 BH Phan” and a custom-designed insole, further cementing Harper’s unique bond with the mascot.
