Keenan Allen OVER 7.5 receptions
Did you know that Keenan Allen leads the NFL in receptions this season? His 73 catches this season are more than the next four Chargers wideouts on the depth chart combined. He’s also riding a three-game streak of 8+ catches, and faces a Green Bay defense that sits 19th in passing yards per play. This should be an opportunity for Allen to have a big day at the office and extend that streak to four.
Jayden Reed ANYTIME TD
It’s been a disappointing season for the Packers and WR Christian Watson has been under that microscope more than most. However, while Watson has struggled to emerge from the Packers’ WR depth chart, Jayden Reed certainly hasn’t.
Reed has 12 receptions over his last 3 games and has 207 yards over his last 4. He’s been a steady climber in Green Bay and Jordan Love has started to target him on a more frequent basis as confidence continues to grow.
With the Chargers expected to put up points in a hurry, Jayden Reed could be targeted early and often on Sunday, as the Packers desperately try to keep pace.
If the Raiders go down early, we can expect the young quarterback to ramp up the aggression and try forcing the ball downfield. Winning might be an unrealistic expectation, but 200 yards or so against a Miami team where he has nothing to lose and everything to gain, is certainly plausible.
Justin Herbert OVER 260 passing yards
If we take out that loss to the Jets, Herbert has been one of the better quarterbacks in the league. He exploded for 321 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Lions in what was not only a narrow defeat, but a game that could well act as a turning point.
If the former Rookie of the Year can replicate that performance, then the Chargers should win this game with ease.
The Packers’ defense is hardly dominant and the Chargers know how important this game is. Big time players make big time plays, and I think Herbert balls out on Sunday.
Christian Watson UNDER 37.5 receiving yards
As aforementioned, this season has not been kind to Christian Watson. The table was set and he just hasn’t finished his meal. The NDSU product is now questionable coming into this game on the back of a three-game stretch where he’s tallied just 93 combined yards.
With Jayden Reed doing so much damage, I can’t imagine there being a real push to get Watson back on the field if he’s less than 100%. I’ll take the under on his total.
