NFL MVP Odds: How does Jalen Hurts rank coming out of the Bye Week?
The Philadelphia Eagles are 8-1 after fending off the pesky Dallas Cowboys a little over a week ago, but a lot has changed since then. QB Jalen Hurts entered the Bye on the back of a resurgent month of play, while his main MVP rivals all seemed to lose a step while the Eagles’ signal-caller was resting up.
What has that done to the NFL MVP Odds? You’ll be surprised…

Jalen Hurts started the season at around the +1100 mark. Fast forward 10 weeks, the Eagles have the best record in all of football, and last year’s runner-up is not only back in the hunt, but he’s leading the pack.
The Eagles QB was one of only 3 players to receive an MVP vote in 2022 (Mahomes and Allen being the others) and then balled out in the Super Bowl in a way that shattered records. After being paid a handsome new $255M contract, expectations were high and although he started slowly, the Oklahoma product soon picked up the pace.
Over the last 3 weeks, Hurts has thrown 8 touchdowns, 1 interception, and completed 75% of his passes for 805 yards. The Dolphins and Cowboys were two of the 3 defenses he faces.
Hurts also pushed A.J Brown into the history books with the young wideout becoming the first in NFL history to have 6 consecutive games with at least 120 receiving yards in a single season.
As far as competition goes, Lamar Jackson and the Ravens just lost to the Browns and Josh Allen categorically threw himself out of the race with a dismal effort in the loss to Denver. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs were also off this week, but even they lost to the Broncos just two weeks earlier.
Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes will lock horns in week 11 under the primetime lights. If Hurts and the Eagles can get revenge on their Super Bowl loss, then this MVP race becomes a lot more one-sided.
If you’re looking to bet on Jalen Hurts to win the MVP award, now might be a good time for that very reason. A win over Kansas City and those odds plummet. Hurts went from +1000 to +650 in a seven-day span last year upon his return from a shoulder injury and it would be fair to say that the MVP race would’ve been tighter had he played an entire year.
But while the world still sleeps on Jalen Hurts winning the NFL MVP award, you have the opportunity to cash in and make some money.
