Lions vs Raiders: Best bets, TV schedule & betting preview Thursday Night Football
The 5-2 Detroit Lions are rapidly becoming the darlings of the 2023 NFL season. Their lovable culture was brought spiraling back down to Earth in a 28-6 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens last week, however, and they’ll be hoping to get back on track against a Raiders team that also lost in sloppy fashion.
We’ve made a handy guide for anyone looking to bet on Lions vs Raiders this Monday night.

Lions vs Raiders : How do they stack up?
The Detroit Lions come into this matchup knowing that they need to be better. Their offense ranks 8th in the NFL and there’s no way they should have been held to a measly 6 offensive points against the Ravens. Jared Goff’s 284 yards were driven mostly by a garbage time rally and he knows that simply cannot happen again. The bad news is that the Raiders rank 10th in opposing yards per game and 5th against the pass. If the Ravens have given away the blueprint, Las Vegas might well duplicate it.
An 8 point spread is a lot and if the Raiders can successfully shut down Jared Goff and company, they’ll need their offense to produce. The unit averages just 16 points per game and they have the worst-ranked rushing attack in the NFL, even with Josh Jacobs on the roster.
This feels like a game where either team could break out, but the most likely candidate is a Detroit team with a balanced offense, a game-managing quarterback and a secondary that ranks 12th in takeaways over the last 3 weeks. Jimmy G has thrown at least one pick in every single game this season, so there could well be a betting angle there.
Lions vs Raiders: Players to build prop bets around
Jimmy Garoppolo
As aforementioned, Jimmy G has been turnover-prone this season with a pick in every game he’s played this season. He’s tied with Josh Allen for the most interceptions thrown in the NFL and the Lions have proven themselves as a defense that can turn the tide of battle by getting pressure on the quarterback.
Whether it’s his totals or interception line there could be some value here.
Jahmyr Gibbs/David Montgomery
It’s tough to project the production of a back whose carry usage varies so much, but if you’re bullish on a strong day at the office from the Lions offense, these two could be at the center of it against a Raiders defense allowing an average of124 yards on the ground each game.
David Montgomery feels like the short-yardage/red zone option, but Gibbs could have the higher upside when it comes to yards. However you slice it, the running backs could dominate the day.
Sam LaPorta
The Detroit TE has been one of my favorite targets when it comes to prop bets this season. His usage is only growing and he surpassed the 6 reception mark last week for only the second time this season. If the Raiders key in on the electric Amon-Ra St. Brown or even the run game, LaPorta is the obvious beneficiary.

Lions vs Raiders betting pick
It might be easy to say that the Lions are the superior team, but they have shown vulnerability. This is a large spread and if it moves to 9, I’ll happily back the Taiders to cover it. However, the sloppiness should also inspire a much more dominant performance in front of their home fans and I expect the Lions to make life very difficult for a Las Vegas offense that lacks optionality.
Chiefs vs Broncos betting pick: Lions -8
