The Philadelphia Phillies can clinch a playoff berth this evening with a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates. While there isn’t much doubt that they will be a factor in the postseason, a win on Tuesday will give the home-field advantage. Can Aaron Nola pitch his way to victory against Pittsburgh?

Pitching matchup
Aaron Nola (12-9, 4.57 ERA) vs Mitch Keller (13-9, 4.25 ERA)
Aaron Nola takes to the mound on Tuesday with hopes of maintaining his improved form. It’s been a tale of two halves for Nola this season, but the month of September has proven to be a positive one. The Phillies have won each of his last 3 starts and he’s only allowed one home run in that span. He’s still bleeding hits, having surrendered 6+ in each September start, which is definitely something to keep an eye on.
Across from Nola will be Mitch Keller, who has allowed 28 hits through his last 4 games. Given that the Phillies rank 8th in runs per game, and 6th in that metric over their last 3 games, this is certainly concerning.
The total for this game is only 7.5, with both Nola and Keller hardly being the most reliable arms to bet behind this season. I have no problem backing the over, especially with Philadelphia wanting to put a bow on their playoff present.

Phillies vs Pirates Betting preview
The Pirates bats rank 21st in runs per game and if Aaron Nola even has an average day at the office, that spells trouble. Meanwhile, as previously mentioned, it’s not like Keller has been much more reliable. The Phils have enough explosiveness offensively to comfortably win this game if you’re looking to bet on the overall winner market.
From a prop perspective, Trea Turner will be a popular play this evening and for good reason. He has 7 hits in his last 10 games, but he hasn’t hit a home run since a September 12th win over the Braves. Backing him to record a home run this evening could be a great play.
Kyle Schwarber is another man who has been red-hot during these last few weeks. He also has 7 hits in 10 At Bats against Keller. Backing Schwarber to record a hit could be a great addition to your Same Game Parlays.
