Falcons vs Panthers: week 1 analysis

First off, this total is EXTREMELY low. It’s the second-lowest of any of the week 1 slate which I find a little weird considering the explosive playmakers on both teams. Bryce Young will have Miles Sanders, fresh off a 1,400-yard season in Philly at his disposal, and although the receiving corps is a little banged up, Adam Theielen Jonathan Mingo, and Terrace Marshall Jr. are hardly slouches.

On the other side of the field, Desmond Ridder is far more capable than Marcus Mariota and has Drake London, Kyle Pitts, oh, and Bijan Robinson.

I don’t see a way this total stays under 40, so my obvious pick is going to be pounding the over here.

Why you should back the Falcons

This is a new era in Atlanta. Bijan Robinson is the most-hyped back since Saquon Barkley and for good reason. He joins an offense that was in the bottom half of the league last year but has undergone quite the rejuvenation.

The Panthers have a rookie quarterback and a depleted receiving corps. It comes up against an Atlanta defense that now features the likes of Jessie Bates and Calais Campbell. Sprinkle in some home-field advantage flakes and you have more than enough reasons to back the Falcons in week 1.

Falcons vs Panthers betting pick

This is a Falcons team that SHOULD be able to withstand Carolina’s defense and it has more than enough star-power defensively to contain a weakened receiving corps and a rookie QB.

Eagles vs panthers Pick: Falcons –3.5
