The Philadelphia Phillies swept the St. Louis Cardinals this past weekend in dominant fashion and now turn their attention to a familiar foe in Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels. Now 7-3 in their last 10, can the Phils keep the good times rolling?

Phillies vs Angels Pitching matchup

Taijuan Walker (13-5, 4.08 ERA) vs Lucas Giolito (7-10, 4.32 ERA)

Taijuan Walker’s season-long resurgence has been a real joy for Phillies fans to watch. He hasn’t allowed more than 4 runs in a game since May 1st against the Dodgers. Maintaining a 4.33 ERA through his last 7 games, Walker has been as reliable as pitchers come and will face a team averaging just .248 this season in what should be a favorable matchup.

Across from Walker will be Lucas Giolito. While he’s been solid this season, he’s given up an average of 7 runs per game in his last 4, largely in part to a 9-run implosion against the Braves. The NL East darlings made light work of the 29-year-old, but the Phils’ offense is just as potent. Giolito has allowed 5+ hits in 9 of his last 14 games, which could give us an edge when looking at pitching props.

Phillies vs Angels Betting preview

The Phillies’ offense has been red-hot recently. Batting .340 over their last 3 games, the Phils have put up 6+ runs in 7 of their last 10 games. That’s more than just a fluke. They have the 5th best offense in the MLB batting average-wise. Now facing a pitcher who has been known to stumble against more explosive offenses this should be a comfy spot for the Phils to win.

With that said, the Angels are no slouches despite their disappointing campaign. They still possess plenty of power, including Shoehi Ohtani, who leads the team in batting average, and the likes of Hunter Renfroe and the beloved Mike Trout. The total could be in play here if you’re looking for an offensive outburst.

If you’re looking for props – Bryce Harper is my man of choice today. Not only is he riding a 10-game hitting streak, but he has 5 home runs in that span along with 18 hits and 12 RBI’s. Harper is +340 to hit a home run tonight and -155 to combine for 1.5+ hits, runs and RBI’s.
