Ohio vs. San Diego State: Betting preview & game info for College Football Week 0

Ohio vs. San Diego State
FILE – An athlete stands near an NCAA logo during a softball game in Beaumont, Texas, April 19, 2019. Two years after the NCAA cleared the way for college athletes to earn money off their fame and celebrity, digital technology is allowing some of them to get paid by their fans without having to do very much in return. Brent Chapman runs a platform called myNILpay. The app allows fans to choose a college athlete and send them money; the app then sends a notification to the athlete’s school email. The athlete fills out a form and the money is then transferred via Venmo or a similar payment method. In exchange, the fan receives a unique computer-generated piece of “art” with the athlete’s signature on it. Chapman said that serves as the quid pro quo. (AP Photo/Aaron M. Sprecher, File)

Week 0 is here as College Football makes its long-awaited return. Helping to kick off the action is a matchup between the Ohio Bobcats and the San Deigo State Aztecs.

Ohio vs. San Diego State: Game Preview

The Bobcats are hoping to hit the ground running this season as they will be welcoming back Kurtis Rourke to the field. The soon-to-be 23-year-old QB is hoping to continue what he started back in 2022 before he suffered a torn ACL in Week 11. Prior to that, Rourke has thrown for 3256 yards and 25 touchdowns while adding four more on the ground. If he can replicate any of that success, it may be a strong season for Ohio and a long day for San Diego State.

For the Aztecs, not as much is expected for the upcoming season, but surprises are always possible. Such was the case even last season, as the team discovered they might just have something in quarterback Jalen Mayday. He’ll need to tighten up his ball control if San Diego State is going to make any real noise, but don’t count out either him or the Aztecs quite yet.

Ohio vs. San Diego State: prediction

The Ohio Bobcats are among the favorites to win the Mid-American Conference this year. Yes, Kurtis Rourke will have some dust to shake off, but this team is one that is ready to make a push; that much is certain. The certainty around San Diego State meanwhile, is a bit lacking.

Betting pick: Ohio +3 (+118)
