Spain vs England: Women’s World Cup Analysis

England

England may not have looked like the same team that dominated the recent European Championships, but their win over the Matilda’s showed that they can get back to that level. Playing without Lauren James and in hostile territory, the Lionesses overcame the return of Sam Kerr to drive past the home nation and into the World Cup Final

Lauren James will return to the Lionesses which is a huge deal, however, it would hardly be surprising to see Ella Toone get the nod. She stepped up in place of James in her absence and got the opening goal in the 3-1 win over the Aussies. She also scored 10 goals in 10 qualifying games. It’s probably not worth betting until the starting XI is revealed, but Toone to score in the 2023 Women’s World Cup Final is +450.

Spain

Spain comes into the World Cup Final after ending Sweden’s miracle run. La Roja also has one of the best players in the world – midfielder Alexia Putellas. England are hardly the strongest team defensively and is usually able to suffocate the opposition with a lot of possession. Spain also loves to dictate the tempo and one has to wonder how they will handle the prowess of Putellas and whether or not they can weather the storm.

The Spanish side should be primed for another offensive outburst on Sunday. They do matchup well against England’s defense and should cause problems for the back line all game.

Spain vs England Women’s 2023 World Cup Final: best bet

England has dominated possession throughout the tournament, but so has Spain. Two potent offenses against two defenses that have proven to be vulnerable at times, this should be the perfect spot to bet Over 2.5 goals (+145) or Both Teams To Score (-110)
