Major League Baseball’s trade deadline has come and gone, and while the Philadelphia Phillies were somewhat active, they showed that they have betting heavily on their stars returning to form this season. Dave Dombrowski and company did add their annual veteran starter and utility player, but there’s much work to be done to make this team into a true contender. Work that will now have to come solely at the hands of the current Phillies roster.
There are a couple of new faces as Philadelphia flipped Hao-Yu Lee and Bailey Falter into Michael Lorenzen and Rodolfo Castro. Lorenzen will come to Philly from the Detroit Tigers, where he’s enjoyed a career year, including a first-time All-Star appearance. Castro, meanwhile, is a 24-year-old utility infielder who can plug and play at second, third, and short. He’s been more than uneven at the plate this season but certainly has the potential to be an upgrade over the recently DFA’d Josh Harrison.
After the additions of Lorenzen and Castro, the Phillies sit at +1700 odds to not only make it back to the World Series this season but to win it all.

If you bet $25 on the Phillies to win it all, you’d get $450 back. If you use an offer below, that $25 bet could become a $50 bet thanks to these BONUSES, which means your returns would be worth nearly $900!
Phillies sit among the top contenders to win it all
Atlanta Braves | +330 |
Los Angeles Dodgers | +500 |
Houston Astros | +700 |
Tampa Bay Rays | +800 |
Texas Rangers | +1100 |
Baltimore Orioles | +1200 |
Toronto Blue Jays | +1500 |
Philadelphia Phillies | +1700 |
While the Phillies’ odds have improved since when last we checked, they remain eighth in the MLB. The entire top eight has remained unchanged though their odds and order have moved slightly. The Toronto Blue Jays have fallen closer to the Phillies from +1200 to +1500, while most other contenders have seen subtle movement either way.
What will make the difference for Philadelphia is if they can get any sort of consistent production from their stars. Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and JT Realmuto have all disappointed, while Kyle Schwarber can only hit dingers — just not often enough, and Nick Castellanos continues to slump after an All-Star start to the year.

Whether or not the Phillies’ stars can return to form will truly decide whether or not the team truly has a shot at greatness this season.
If you bet $25 on Philadelphia to win it all, you’d get $455 back. If you use the offer below, that $25 bet could become a $50 bet, which means your returns would be worth $900!
