The Philadelphia Phillies are back in action later today and are on the road again for a series with the Miami Marlins. After an impressive series against the Rays, it will be intriguing to see if the Phils can stay hot.

Pitching matchup

Zack Wheeler (7-4, 4.03 ERA) vs Sandy Alcantara (3-7, 4.93 ERA)

This pitching matchup has class written all over it, which is probably why the run total is so low today (7). Wheeler comes into this game on the back of a fairly solid win over the Nationals, but it wasn’t his best. In the month of June, Wheeler maintained a 4.50 ERA, allowing 29 hits in 28 innings pitched in 5 games. In 4 of his last 6 games, he’s been tagged for 6+ hits, which is a concern against Miami’s offense.

Standing across from Wheeler will be Sandy Alcantara, who also struggled last time out in a war against the Braves. Atlanta did what they’ve done to every pitcher this year, which is continue to drive base hits and wear them down. The Phillies will have to do the same against the former Cy Young winner.

Phillies vs Marlins Betting preview

The run total being this low is slightly concerning. Sure, Wheeler and Alcantara are two of the great pitchers in MLB, but both have been average by their own standards in recent times. The Marlins offense also ranks third in total batting average and are led by Jorge Soler. We all know the power the Phillies house and this could get messy in the final few innings regardless of how well the starters pitch. I’ll be backing OVER 7 runs.

As far as prop bets, Luis Arreaz has been red-hot recently, riding a seven-game hit streak. He put up 3 hits against the Cardinals last time out, but has been unable to bring home a run since July 2nd. I think that streak comes to an end today. Arreaz to record a run is +275 and I LOVE that price.

On the Phillies side of things, Alec Bohm is a player who can go off on any given night as evidenced by the fact he has 2 home runs in his last 10 games, along with 14 hits. When it rains, it usually pours for Bohm, who has 5 multi-hitters in that same span. Bohm to record 2+ hits tonight is +250.
