How does Vegas view the Phillies after their recent resurgence when it comes to their World Series odds?
The 2023 MLB season is already at the halfway mark and things are finally brightening up in Philadelphia. After a torrid start to the season, the Phillies are on a roll and will be looking to apply the pressure to both the Miami Marlins and Atlanta Braves. A difficult start to the 2023 campaign initially resulted in a huge spike in Worlds Series futures prices. The Phillies were originally +1500 to win the World Series and rose to +2800 following their disappointing opening stanza. They did recover to as low as +2200 but the price seems to have settled at around +2500 for the time being.
This is actually good news for Phillies fans. Sure, the chances of a divisional title are rapidly diminishing thanks to the bruising Braves, but that didn’t stop Philly from toppling Atlanta in the playoffs last year.
The team is now at .530 and sits 12 games behind the Atlanta Braves, and 3 behind the Miami Marlins. A lot can change between now and the end of the season and with the Phils finally finding some form, there may be no better time to back them.
