With only two Horses priced below 3-1, the Belmont Stakes provide some real upside for bettors. According to Forbes, 10 of the winning Horses over the last 17 runnings of the race have been priced at 6-1 or above, with 8 of those winners being 10-1 or even higher! Belmont Stakes: The Field
While the Kentucky Derby-winning Mage will be skipping the Belmont Stakes due to it now being impossible to claim the Triple Crown, the winner of the Preakness Stakes is aiming to pick up win number 2. National Treasure (5-1) comes into this event fresh off of that huge win in Baltimore, but with a much longer race ahead, the Belmont Stakes may favor a different style of Horse.
The Favorite going into this race is Forte (5-2). That’s partly because Forte has won five consecutive races, and also due to the fact that Irad Ortiz Jr., who rode last year’s winner, is going to be riding the red-hot Horse, who also beat Mage (Kentucky Derby winner) TWICE prior to the big day. There is no reason he can’t storm to victory here.
Angel of Empire is an intriguing option at 7-2. He came third in the Kentucky Derby but will be applying Blinkers this race. This can go one of two ways, he’s a Horse who tends to kick-on late and provided he can stay on over this longer distance, he should go well once more.
Betting pick for the Preakness Stakes 2023
If you’re looking for a longshot to maximize your free bets, ’Hit Show’ is a Horse worth noting. He came 5th in the Kentucky Derby and in a condensed field over a longer distance, may be able to make some noise once again.
