The Celtics offense has been wildly inconsistent this series. One minute Jayson Tatum is electric, the next, he’s silent. One minute the shots are falling, the next, their hopes are. What we can bank on is that with more missed opportunities come a sense of desperation to get the ball into the hands of the players who heat up.
Brown has netted 5 assists twice, and 4 assists twice in this series so far. To get +145 odds on 5+ assists feels juicy for a player averaging 4.5 this series which is an uptick from his season average of 3.6 Clearly, Brown is comfortable taking a backseat to elevate the hot hand and there are great odds to take advantage of while that remains the case.
Joel Embiid over 28.5 points: -110
The Sixers have hardly been much better when it comes to consistent offense, but Embiid’s total still feels low. Sure, he had a wobbly game 3 (his first back since injury). but he’s put up 30+ points in both games since, and as we know, led the NBA in scoring with 33.1 this season. Embiid might have been smothered by Al Horford in the dying embers of game 4, but that didn’t reflect his effiency in the 3.7 quarters prior where he had a very solid day at the office.
As Embiid continues to trend towards full health, this feels like a great spot to grab some value on his totals.
Tyrese Maxey under 19.5 points: -145
Maxey’s value to this Sixers team is huge, but not as a scorer in this series. He’s still averaging around 13 points per contest, but if we can get value on under 20, it makes sense. Maxey’s total feels too high going into a road game against the Celtics – a team he only averages 8 points per game against anyway.
Sixers +7.5 -110
This series is getting too tight for a spread this large. The Sixers were 10.5-point underdogs in the opening affair without the 2023 MVP, Joel Embiid. They won that game. They were 2.5-point underdogs on Sunday and won the game outright. I just can’t see another Celtics blowout while the Boston offense is sputtering along.
